Good morning gamers! Last week was filled with game showcases hosted by Capcom, Paradox Interactive and Nacon. ICYMI, here’s a recap of all the game trailers and game details that were featured during the events.
CAPCOM Spotlight
Exoprimal debuted a new trailer that showcased the multiplayer games’ mech versus dino combat, and introduced some of the main characters. It will have a free and paid cosmetic battle pass, requires an always-on connection, and it is set to launch across all Xbox and PlayStation consoles, PC and Game Pass on July 14. An open beta with cross-platform matchmaking is scheduled from March 17.
Resident Evil 4 Remake announced a free special demo that lets players play as Leon through the game’s opening mission in the iconic European village filled with murderous farmers.
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is coming to PlayStation and Xbox on April 28. The expansion includes the game's first three title updates (which almost brings it up-to-date with the Nintendo Switch version), two new locations, a new hub world and new monsters and weapons.
Street Fighter 6 introduced their eighth and final commentator, Hikaru Takahashi.
Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection launches on April 14 and includes all Battle Network games up to Battle Network 6.
Paradox Interactive Announcement Show
Cities: Skylines II revealed its new realistic city simulation. This is the sequel to the 2015 title that will let players build cities ranging from a village to a mega metropolis. The game is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC later this year.
Crusader Kings III: Tours & Tournaments Expansion was announced for the award winning strategy RPG game. Players will now be able to travel across realms to look over their vessels and to make history altering decisions across several new events.
The Lamplighters League is a new turn-based strategy game from Harebrained Schemes, the studio that released the Shadowrun Trilogy. The game consists of strategy combat, where players make choices to decide the world’s fate.
Europa Universalis IV: Domination Expansion was revealed featuring new mission trees for the Ottoman Empire, Ming China, France, Russia, and more. The expansion will see players struggle to hold the reins of power while getting closer to the past.
Surviving the Aftermath: Rebirth Expansion from Iceflake Studios will allow players to modify and revitalize the game environment. Players will have to overcome new and old challenges, for the survivors and all of humanity.
Life By You is a project led by Rod Humble (The Sims and Second Life), which will be fully revealed on March 20th.
Nacon Connect 2023
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum revealed their official story trailer. After a lot of negative criticism at the last presentation, Daedalic Entertainment had a much better showing. The game is expected to be released later this year.
RoboCop: Rogue City has been delayed until September, but will be releasing on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The new trailer showcased the city of Detroit which RoboCop is tasked with protecting.
Ravenswatch showcased a new trailer filled with fables, myths and fairy tales. The trailer showed detailed gameplay and introduced the heroes who will be guiding us through the dark fantasy adventure. It will be releasing later this year on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with Steam Early Access starting on April 6th.
Ad Infinitum is a psychological horror game set in World War I where players have to figure out if they’re experiencing nightmares or if they’re actually living through the events. The game is releasing on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in September.
Ride on the Edge 3 will allow players to travel 200 kilometers in an open environment on a scale of 1:1. The developers RaceWard and Nacon Studio Milan are releasing the game in May.
War Hospital is a 3D isometric real-time strategy game that takes players in World War I. Players are tasked with taking care of patients and managing a medical facility. The game is releasing on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on August 31st.
Capes is a turn-based superhero strategy game where players have to protect their own city and fight crime. The game is releasing later this year on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Esports Corner
🥇Congratulations to the Toronto Ultra for winning the Call of Duty League: Stage 3 Major.
The Valorant Champions Tour 2023 LOCK//IN São Paulo has concluded and the Grand Final match between Fnatic and LOUD peaked at 1.44 million live viewers, making it the second most-watched game in Valorant Esports history. Riot Games also announced that the sale of their VCT-themed skin bundle raised more than $10m in sales, where 50% is allocated to the VCT partnered teams that participated in the event.
The ESL is reportedly looking to host its own DOTA 2 circuit after only being awarded the Berlin Major by Valve for the 2023 season. According to leaked internal documents, the ESL wants to run multiple events alongside Valve’s official tournaments. This includes the return of their DreamLeague series that will act as an online qualifier for the Riyadh Masters (16 teams compete across two weeks for $1m). The plans for after that event suggest that the ESL One will return to in-person events with the familiar qualifier and invite formats.
Gamers8, the biggest esports festival in the world is set to return this July in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia featuring a massive $45 million prize pool (three times more than last year). The featured games and events lineup have not yet been confirmed but we do know that Gamers Without Borders will be returning on April 10th with a $10m prize pool for charity. Running adjacent to the Gamers8 festival, Gamers Without Borders will host multiple events where the winners will qualify for that respective game during the main festival, while also choosing which charity to donate their GWB winnings to.
FaZe Clan and LOUD have both announced their entrance into the women's esports scene with brand-new female Valorant rosters. Both announcements were made on International Women’s Day (March 8) while popular Twitch streamer ‘Disguised Toast” also expressed his interest in signing an all-female Valorant team.
Gaming Roundup
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has reportedly been delayed due to the poor fan reception from the PlayStation State of Play showcase last month.
Bethesda has officially announced that Starfield is launching exclusively for Xbox Series X|S and PC on September 6th (delayed from the first half of 2023).
Rockstar Games insider Tez2 says that Grand Theft Auto 6 is targeting a “always-changing-not-set-in-stone” Holiday 2024 release date.
PlayStation boss Jim Ryan reportedly said “I don’t want a new Call of Duty deal. I just want to block your merger” at the hearing with EU Commission regulators.
Marvel Snap has earned $50 million in global revenue since launching in October 2022, the game has over 18 million downloads.
