Good morning gamers! Summer Game Fest is underway and PlayStation kicked things off with a surprisingly strong State of Play. In case you missed it, here’s everything the event had to show.
Resident Evil 4 Remake is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on March 24, 2023. The teaser included some familiar faces and places but the game will be a reimagining of the original Resident Evil 4 storyline. Capcom’s goal is to “preserve the essence of the original game” while giving players a fresh feeling by modernizing the graphics and controls.
Spider-Man Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales are officially coming to PC with August 12, 2022 and Fall 2022 release dates, respectively. PlayStation Studios partner Nixxes Software has fully optimized both games for PC.
The Callisto Protocol released a first-look gameplay trailer and is confirmed to launch on December 2, 2022 for PlayStation, Xbox and PC. The third-person sci-fi survival horror game by Dead Space creator Glen Schofield is filled with brutal zombie-like creatures and is set on Jupiters cold and snowy moon.
Final Fantasy XVI closed out the event with a beautiful gameplay trailer that showcased a drastically different combat style which is done in real-time and that looked more cinematic for key battles. The trailer revealed select story details about the Land of Vlisthea and showed some giant creatures from the Final Fantasy series. FF16 is expected to arrive on PS5 in the Summer of 2023.
Street Fighter 6 showcased its new realistic art style and dramatic combat action in the games first full gameplay reveal. It will feature familiar characters, multiple new mechanics and a new free roam mode alongside the regular battle mode. Street Fighter 6 will launch in 2023 for PlayStation, Xbox and PC (via Steam).
Horizon Call of the Mountain is a PSVR2 exclusive spin-off of the Horizon series where you play as Ryas, a former Shadow Carja warrior embarking on a mission to investigate the truth behind a “great new threat to the Sundom”. Throughout the mission, players will come across some very familiar faces and the game will even allow you to explore the world from a scenic perspective.

Stray will launch on July 19th and will be free for PlayStation Plus subscribers in the Extra or Premium tier.
Resident Evil Village will be available on PSVR2 with its full campaign and gameplay elements.
No Man’s Sky will get updated and improved for a PSVR2 version of the game.
Tunic will be available on PS5 and PS4 starting September 27, 2022.
Madden NFL - A Lasting Memory
On June 1st, Electronic Arts celebrated the 34th anniversary since the release of the original John Madden Football game. Otherwise known as Madden ‘88, this was the beginning of the yearly Madden NFL game releases. John Madden passed away last year at the age of 85, but his name will live on forever through the Madden NFL video game franchise.
Madden NFL 23 will also pay tribute to John Madden as there will be 3 different game covers honouring him. The game was revealed and it will feature new gameplay elements including FieldSENSE. The new feature will address the physical animations between players in-game, which will impact the outcome of each play. EA is using the next generation consoles to their full power including player body types and visuals. Madden NFL 23 will launch worldwide on August 19th.

North American esports organization Luminosity Gaming has officially announced that they are exiting competitive Valorant for the “foreseeable future”. Their current roster will continue to compete throughout the remainder of the VCT Stage 2 Challengers but will need to find a new home thereafter. This news comes just a few days after Riot reportedly hosted a meeting with teams to discuss a partnership program for the 2023 season and only a week after Luminosity’s parent company Enthusiast Gaming was requested to replace the CEO and Board of Directors by their largest investors.
Valve has finally revealed some details for The International 11, this year's biggest Dota esports tournament. The event will take place across 4 separate weekends in October and will include 30 of the best teams from around the world. Despite being the biggest event in esports history, fans have expressed their disappointment in the longer format because it makes it much more expensive to attend the event with so many long breaks between the Playoffs and the Grand Finals. No prize pool has been announced but it is estimated to surpass USD $45 million ($1.6m base prize plus 25% of the Battle Pass revenue).
Major Fortnite LAN events are officially back starting with the $1 million FNCS Invitational 2022. The event will take place at the Raleigh Convention Center in North Carolina on November 12 and 13. Epic Games plans to invite a selection of top FNCS Duos from around the world and have them compete against each other in a single lobby. This is the first major Fortnite esports event since the 2019 World Cup where $30 million was up for grabs.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is the official title for BioWare’s next Dragon Age game. BioWare says they will share more information later this year.
Escape from Tarkov ARENA was announced this week, it is a session-based multiplayer FPS for PC with Escape from Tarkov mechanics.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II released a new teaser ahead of their reveal on June 8th at 10AM PT. The game releases October 28th, 2022.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will feature Darth Maul despite his injuries sustained in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace.
Fallout 76 will now get development support from Sperasoft. The company worked closely with Bethesda Game Studios for two years.
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick says that it doesn’t make economic sense to release their games on subscription services day one.
GoldenEye 007 achievements are still being earned on Xbox by Rare employees. Microsoft canceled the game last year due to licensing issues.
